Work In the Week of Thanksgiving

Web developers get caught up in our clients’ projects and needs and it’s hard to find time to work on our own business needs. But this time of year provides two periods of time usually perfect for this, at least for us, as clients are busy with other priorities, prospective clients are as well, and the phone doesn’t ring nearly as much, and the emails slow.

Our business almost always needs those the three days before Thanksgiving and the week between Christmas and New Years to work on the internal business.

There are things that have to be done this year. We have to get our next marketing mailer ready to go out the door (yes, we still use the post office for delivering marketing – and Google Analytics shows that it works!). There’s at least one new computer to bring in and prep. We have to decide on the most effective way to integrate credit card payment for our services going forward. Finalizing 2013 budget and revenue projections. Review all our hosting agreements. Ah, fun stuff.

But at least for the Thanksgiving period, we’ll also be working on a couple of projects that are due for release near December 1st. It’s been a busy year, and that means less “internal work” time. Redesigning our own site? It will have to wait.

We’ll be open Monday, November 19th through the 21st, and we’ll be back on November 26th. We’ll post our December schedule next month.
