There was a time where we could start working on a new client’s web site design immediately upon discussion.
But those days are gone. We have to schedule new work. We ALWAYS have work in the queue and in process. Scheduling is just a fact of life.
Many times a prospective client will contact us and wants a design done within the next few weeks.
Usually we can’t do things that way. First of all, it takes a bit of time to come to an understanding on the scope of work to be done. This requires discussion, examples, proposals, contract, etc. What you may think you want may change considerably after discussing options, alternatives, and costs.
Secondly, we need to schedule it with all other work that has preceded it through this process. Depending on scope of the work, this may mean we can’t start on your site anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.
A good rule of thumb for our prospective clients: contact us a few months ahead of when you want your site work to be started. In the worst case scenario, you might have to wait a couple of months before we start to do the work precisely as you envisioned it.
Best case scenario? We take the time to determine what would work best for the goals you want to accomplish – and today’s delay becomes tomorrow’s effectiveness and longevity of the next iteration of your web site.
